03EMBEDDED SYSTEMS / ACADEMIC PROJECT

Secure Timeout System.

A timeout mechanism in an emulated NXP S32K3X8EVB environment, bringing together FreeRTOS, memory protection, UART communication, and timer-based scheduling.

Components explored in the emulated environment. Connections are conceptual and do not assert a complete hardware or software architecture.
01THE QUESTION

Problem & context

Embedded applications must coordinate time-sensitive behavior with operating-system services and hardware interfaces. This course project explored a timeout mechanism in an emulated NXP board environment.

02THE INVESTIGATION

Approach

01

An emulated board environment

QEMU provided the NXP S32K3X8EVB environment for Embedded C and FreeRTOS application work.

02

Timing and communication

The project included timer-based scheduling, timeout behavior, and UART communication.

03

Memory protection

MPU configuration formed part of the work, alongside application and peripheral components documented in the repository.

03WHAT THE WORK SHOWS

Supported outcomes

  • Academic implementation of a timeout mechanism in an emulated embedded environment.
  • Repository documentation describes application, MPU, peripheral, and timeout components, with build and debug guidance.
04THE PROJECT MATERIAL

Artifacts & scope

  • Application and timeout components
  • MPU and peripheral work
  • Build and debug guidance

SCOPE OF THE WORK

“Secure” is the recorded project name, rather than a proven assurance property. The work does not establish physical-board testing, production use, or authorship of an entire emulator or RTOS port.
